Megan Cordaro, ASW
Megan is military/first responder spouse, doula, and therapist who provides individual therapy for adults who are seeking to address challenges related to parenting, marital conflict, pregnancy, birth-related trauma, postpartum, and the unique experience of being a part of a First Responder/Military family. As a spouse/mother of more than 20yrs, Megan understands and empathizes with the unique struggles of military and first responder family life. And her experience as a doula has provided powerful insight into pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Megan feels strongly about the need for more robust birth preparation, supportive and empathetic postpartum care, and the importance of processing one’s birth, particularly if it was traumatic.
Megan believes in the resiliency of the human spirit and her goal is to help her clients connect with their strengths and values to empower them to live with more ease and intention in their lives. Understanding a client’s experience of that culture and context is crucial to understanding and developing a healing relationship with her clients.
Megan seeks to foster authentic connection, empathy, and humor in her practice and integrates different approaches, such as CBT, ACT, and DBT. Megan has worked in child welfare finding permanent placements for foster youth, implemented wrap-around for at-risk juvenile youth, provided parenting counseling, perinatal mental health care, and leads new mom support groups and parenting support groups. Megan holds a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a Master of Social Work from UCLA. Her partner also attended UCLA and the 8 clap was like a nursery rhyme in her house. She will work with USC graduates. She is an avid learner and is also a Certified Birth Doula, a Childbirth Educator, and a Simplicity Parenting Counselor.
